Our Programs
Toddler
Children from birth to the age of three are in the period of the absorbent mind. During these years, more than 80% of the brain is formed, and children soak up their environment like a sponge, learning what it is to be a human in their culture, time, and place. Magnolia Blossom Montessori provides an environment specifically suited to your child’s development, practicing principles that align with the most important family values of equity, unconditional love, and peace. These years create a foundation for life.
Primary
From about 3-6 years, the child enters the conscious stage of development. Their mind still absorbs information easily, but now they will consciously seek out different learning experiences. The scientifically designed, unique Montessori materials help the child learn through hands-on exploration while developing important skills, such as independence, coordination, order, self-discipline and concentration.

Through “grace and courtesy” activities primary children learn how to solve conflicts, how to act politely in social situations, and how to be kind and helpful to each other resulting in a peaceful and caring community.
Hours
Our school is open Monday – Friday (except holidays and breaks recognized by the JCPS calendar) from 8:00 am – 3:30 pm.
Nia Strings Violin Program
Group Lessons at Magnolia Blossom Montessori
Every child in the Primary (3-6) program will participate in weekly group lessons. Violins are provided by Magnolia Blossom Montessori. In true Montessori form, the mixed age group provides an opportunity for students who might be more advanced to guide other students. Group lessons are also good for learning how to play together, in unison with others and help reinforce skills learned in private lessons.

Private lessons are available after school hours at Magnolia Blossom Montessori, with Nia Strings for a monthly rate.

I have had a love of music from a very young age.
I started at J. Graham Brown School with Suzuki violin instructor Jim Bates.
I took lessons at the University School of Music under Suzuki violin instructor Sherry Hoffmeister, while I dabbled in the cello, saxophone, guitar, and piano.
I graduated with my BA in Sociology from Simmons College 2019, and am in the process of earning my Masters in Counseling Psychology. I have over 25 years of violin experience, from my work with Louisville Youth Orchestra (LYO), J. Graham Brown School Orchestra, and St. Stephen Baptist Church Orchestra. I have performed with Walden Theatre/Blue Apple Players, and The Moth Story Tellers at Brown Theatre. I have directed Nia Strings Suzuki violin program (formerly Love of Strings) since 2010, which is currently run out of the Mizizi African Based Homeschool Co-op, as well as the Magnolia Blossom Montessori School (an official partner with Nia Strings Louisville). We also have an association with Kuumba Youth Liberation Academy (KYLA), school of African based studies in Louisville, Kentucky.
In addition to my music, I am a devoted wife and loving mother of 4 boys, and one girl, I love Yoga, and have continued to stay involved with the arts.
The child who has felt a strong love for his surroundings and for all living creatures, who has discovered joy and enthusiasm in work, gives us reason to hope that humanity can develop in a new direction.
